For freight forwarders on CargoWise
From inbox to CargoWise, without the retyping.
Marivo uses AI to read the vendor invoices and shipping documents that arrive by email. Deterministic rules match them to your jobs and accruals and show their evidence, so your team handles only the exceptions.
- Starts in shadow mode: nothing is written until you decide
- CargoWise stays your system of record
- Open-source AI, with a private deployment option

Our approach
AI reads, rules decide.
The AI does what software could never do before: read documents that all look different. Everything that touches money or CargoWise is decided by rules you can inspect, and each decision shows the evidence behind it.
The AI reads
Values, each with its evidence
- VendorExample Ocean Lines
Found: Letterhead, page 1
- House billHBL-EXAMPLE-7
Found: Reference block, page 1
- ContainerEXMU 482015 7
Found: Line 1, page 1
- Total before taxUSD 1,430.00
Found: Totals box, page 1
The rules decide
Deterministic checks you can inspect
- Container check digit valid: waiting
- Invoice lines add up to the total: waiting
- Exactly one accrual combination matches: waiting
- No hard gate applies: waiting
Decision: checking…
Text inside a document is treated as data, never as an instruction. An invoice that says “approve me” changes nothing.
What it automates
One platform for the documents that slow your team down
Payables and bookings share the same document reading, the same matching against your CargoWise data and the same audit trail.
Payables automation
Input: Vendor invoices and credit notes
Each invoice is matched to its jobs and accruals, exceptions are resolved with the operator, and the payables transaction is posted with the invoice attached in eDocs.
- Duplicates and revised invoices caught before posting
- Matching by job number, house bill, master bill or container
- Approval and accrual requests sent to the right operator
Booking automation
Input: Bookings, commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, air waybills
A forwarding shipment is created in CargoWise with parties, routing, containers and cargo filled in, and the source documents attached.
- Documents that disagree are flagged, never silently picked
- Container check digits, port codes and dates validated
- A draft email lists exactly what is missing
- Coming later
Operations copilot
Input: Questions in plain English
Read-only answers over your own synced data, such as which invoices are waiting on operator approval or which bookings are missing a packing list.
- Read-only by design
- Only your own workspace's data
AI features
AI that shows its work
Every AI output is labelled as a suggestion and comes with its evidence: the position on the page, the history behind a charge code, the sentence behind a reply.
AI document understanding
Finds every invoice or shipping document inside a mixed PDF or email, splits them apart and reads every field. Each field links back to its exact position on the page.
AI vendor and party recognition
Matches the name on a document to the right CargoWise organization, learns aliases and never creates a duplicate.
AI charge-code suggestion
Suggests the charge code for a missing accrual and shows the reason in plain words, based on how your team coded similar charges before.
AI-drafted emails
Drafts missing-information requests to shippers, and approval or accrual requests to the operator responsible for the job.
AI reply reading
Reads an operator's or shipper's reply and suggests the next action to your clerk, with the sentence it is based on. It suggests; a person decides.
- Coming later
Operations copilot
Ask questions in plain English over your own synced data, such as which invoices are waiting on operator approval.
Measured accuracy before automation
Shadow mode reports how often an automatic decision would have been changed by a person, before you switch automation on.
Private, open-source AI
The models are open source and can run on our servers or on your own servers.
How it works
Forward an inbox. Work only the exceptions.
No change to how vendors and shippers send you documents, and no change to CargoWise as your system of record. Select a step to see what happens in it.
Step 1 of 5
Email arrives
Auto-forward your AP or bookings inbox, connect the mailbox, or upload files.
- Your own inbound address per CargoWise company and module; no access to your mail system needed
- Or connect a Microsoft 365 or IMAP mailbox, or upload by drag and drop
- Every attachment is scanned for malware before anything opens it
Shadow mode
Measured before you automate
See your own measured accuracy in shadow mode before you switch automation on. Every new CargoWise connection starts there.
- You choose the mode per CargoWise company. Moving to auto is an explicit admin action, recorded in the audit trail.
- Any accuracy figure we show you comes from this measurement on your documents, never from a brochure.
Shadow
Every decision is computed. Nothing is written.
Where every new connection starts
- Writes to CargoWise
- None. Your team keeps entering documents as today.
- Who acts
- Your team, exactly as before.
- What your team sees
- A report comparing each decision with what your team actually did, including how often an automatic decision would have been changed by a person.
In every mode, a kill switch stops all writes to a connection at once.
Security and private AI
Built for financial records
Your vendor invoices are financial records. They are handled like it, from the moment an email arrives to the posting in CargoWise.
Open-source AI models
Page reading and extraction use openly licensed models. No paid proprietary AI service is called with your documents.
Private deployment option
The models can run entirely on your own servers, so your documents stay inside your environment.
Tenant isolation
Every record belongs to one customer and the database enforces it. Nothing your team teaches the system is shared with another customer.
An audit trail of every decision
Who or what changed what, when, and on which evidence, including the exact message exchanged with CargoWise. It is append-only.
CargoWise stays the system of record
We write through CargoWise's supported integration interface and keep a local copy only for matching. Before posting, the live record is checked again.
Sign in with your company account
Single sign-on with Microsoft Entra ID, Google or another identity provider, and roles that limit who can see and post what.
Documents are data, never instructions
The AI that reads documents has no tools and cannot act. Text in an invoice cannot approve or post anything.
Security and trust: what is in place today, and what is not yet
Deployment options
Hosted for you, or on your own servers
The same open-source stack and the same software in both cases, on ordinary servers in any cloud or on your own hardware.
Hosted
We run, update, monitor and back up the platform for you. You connect CargoWise and forward an inbox.
We tell you in writing where your documents are processed before you start.
On your own servers
Installed in your data centre or your cloud account, from a single server up to a cluster. The AI models run there too, so documents stay inside your environment.
Same images and same releases as the hosted service.
Questions
Straight answers
If your question is not here, ask us during the demo.
Does it replace CargoWise?
No. CargoWise remains your system of record. We read from it to match documents, and write to it through its supported integration interface. Your team keeps working in CargoWise as before.
How accurate is it?
We do not quote a general accuracy figure, because every forwarder's vendors and documents are different. Shadow mode measures it on your own documents, against what your team actually posted, before you switch automation on.
Will it post anything without our approval?
Not unless you choose that. Every connection starts in shadow mode, which writes nothing. In assisted mode a person approves each write. In auto mode, hard gates such as a new vendor's first invoices or amounts above your limit still go to a person.
What happens when the AI is unsure?
The item goes to a person with its evidence and one clear next action. Confidence is computed from evidence, such as an exact reference match and totals that add up, not from the AI's own opinion of itself.
Where are our documents processed?
The AI models can run on our servers or entirely on your own. We confirm in writing where your documents are processed before you start, and any outside model host must agree in writing not to train on or keep your data.
Is our data used to train AI for other customers?
No. Your documents are never used to train a model shared with other customers, and what the system learns from your team, such as vendor aliases and charge-code history, stays in your workspace.
What do we need to connect CargoWise?
Your CargoWise administrator sets up the integration connection, and we guide them through it. If another vendor already receives your CargoWise outbound messages, a relay lets both keep working.
Which documents does it handle?
For payables: vendor invoices, credit notes and debit notes. For bookings: booking requests and confirmations, commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, air waybills, shipping instructions, arrival notices and more. One PDF or email can hold several documents.
See it on your own documents
Bring a handful of real vendor invoices or booking documents. We will show you what the AI reads and how the rules decide, with the evidence on screen.
